We keep saying that we definitely should have planned more time for our road trip around the Southwest. We did get to see a lot, but we probably could have used an extra day or two in some places. Our trip started out in Albuquerque, NM, where we did a self-guided tour of some popular Breaking Bad filming locations. From there we headed south and made stops at Pistachio Land and White Sands National Monument (our favorite place we visited on our trip).
After that we were headed to Arizona and had a long drive ahead of us. We broke up our trip and stopped at Kartchner Caverns State Park on our way to Scottsdale. In Scottsdale we were able to see some animals at the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, before we headed up to Sedona for a couple days.
Of course no trip to the southwest is complete without visiting the Grand Canyon, which we crammed into just one day. Next time we’ll definitely give ourselves more time to explore other areas of Grand Canyon National Park. From there we were headed on our way back to Albuquerque to catch our flight home, but not before we stopped to see the Petrified Forest National Park near Holbrook, AZ.
