We spent a couple very cold days in Punta Arenas, Chile. We knew that it would be cold, but had no clue how cold the wind would actually make it feel. Even the warmer clothes we packed for Punta Arenas and Patagonia left us a little unprepared for the strong winds.
The main reason for our stop in Punta Arenas was to see penguins, and luckily we saw quite a few penguins. We took a day trip to Isla Magdalena where there are thousands of penguins and other birds that call the island home. After a long boat ride we were able to walk around the island and take pictures of all the penguins for about an hour before we headed back to Punta Arenas.
The rest of our time in Punta Arenas was spent at our hotel, where it was warm and cozy. Whenever we were walking around the town it was usually to find souvenirs or eat dinner. Luckily the mirador, which had great views of Punta Arenas was just a quick walk up the hill behind our hotel.
