Our second stop on our safari in Kenya was at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Ol Pejeta is a game reserve near Nanyuki, Kenya. We spent one night in Ol Pejeta at Sweetwaters Tented Camp and were able to do one evening game drive during our time there. The conservancy is also home to a chimpanzee sanctuary and a rhinoceros sanctuary, where they guard and care for the only three remaining northern white rhinos in existence.
Our game drive in Ol Pejeta introduced some new animals that we had not seen during our time in Samburu. Many of them were birds, like the Egyptian geese, marabou stork, and the grey crowned crane. A couple other animals that we saw for the first time were spotted hyenas, buffalo, and black rhinoceros. Just a few days into our safari and we had already seen more than half of the big 5.
