When we started looking for places to stay in Krakow, we were happy to see that staying at Light Rooms Apartment was less expensive than a private room in a hostel or a hotel. This was a huge benefit for us as we had not only more space but were also able to cook some meals at home, saving us even more money.
When we saw that Light Rooms Apartment was in a great location, completely remodeled and had a good number of amenities. We were sold and immediately booked our stay.
Our Apartment at Light Rooms
The first thing that we noticed when we opened the doors was how new everything was. Our apartment was a true 1 bedroom with a bedroom, dining room, living room, kitchen and bathroom.
While the apartment was large, there wasn’t a lot of things in the space, leaving it feeling a little cold and sterile. Even though it wasn’t overly “homey”, we liked that we had a lot of space. After being on the road together for 7 months at this point, the ability for each of us to have our own space was a huge benefit.
After our apartment in Kosice, which had a horrible shower, we were ready for a good shower. Fortunately, we had an awesome rainfall shower head, great water pressure and seemingly endless hot water. It felt great to be able to take a nice, long, hot shower.
Light Rooms Apartment – Amenities
One thing that I had never experienced at at hotel before was heated floors. I had heard of heated floors in bathrooms before, but the apartment had heated floors throughout. This was really nice for the apartment in particular as we were at ground level, which I am sure gets quite cold in the winter months.
While it was a nice amenity, it wasn’t as good as I imagined that it would be. The floors were not cold, which was nice, but there were patches that were warmer than others which almost made you feel more cold than having no heated floors at all.
We love having our own kitchen when we travel, even if it is extremely basic with what you need to cook, but nothing more. Light Rooms Apartment was no exception – everything was clean, but the kitchen was very limited. Luckily, at this point in our trip we had perfected being able to make some pretty decent meals out of very little.
One thing that the kitchen had which we were not used to was a dishwasher. It felt great to be able to use as many dishes as we wanted without having to clean them by hand.
WiFi is a pretty standard amenity in apartments so we weren’t surprised that they had it. What we were surprised about was how hit or miss it was. At times the wifi was extremely fast while at other times it was unbelievably slow.
The location of the apartment was great. It was a short walk to the city center and right off a tram line should you prefer public transportation.
Since it is an apartment, we had to coordinate our arrival with the host. It was extremely easy to get our keys when we arrived as there was an office where we completed our paperwork and picked up our keys. We arrived early so our room was not ready. Luckily, we were able to leave our bags at the office so we could explore the city while we waited without worry.
The woman at the office spoke English well and was very helpful in giving us public transportation options to the tourist attractions in the city. This was a huge perk as finding information about how to take public transportation in foreign cities is often lacking.
I’m glad that we decided to stay at Light Rooms Apartment during our time in Krakow. We loved having a lot of space, the ability to cook our own meals and a great location. The apartment was clean and had everything that we needed for our short stay.
Our only issue that we had at the apartment was our first evening. There was a group of younger girls renting the apartment above us who decided to have a very loud dance party. Between the bass and the jumping up and down to the music, it was quite loud. Fortunately they left for the bars around 11pm, so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience.
Check out was a breeze, we just had to leave our apartment keys in the mailbox on our way out. This worked well as we had an early bus ride to Brno the morning we left.
