Our third stop on our safari through Kenya was at Lake Nakuru National Park. We spent just one night at Lake Nakuru Lodge and had one afternoon game drive the day we arrived. This was one of our least favorite parks that we visited, but it was interesting to see how different it was from the previous two. Lake Nakuru is known for being a bird watchers paradise. It was not the season to see flamingos, but we did see quite a few other birds that we had not seen in Samburu or Ol Pejeta.
My favorite part about Lake Nakuru was definitely all of the different birds that we saw. I’m usually not a big bird watching person, but the birds in Africa seem so much more colorful and interesting than the birds in North America. I spent a lot of time the day after our game drive looking through the “Birds of Africa” book trying to figure out the names of all the birds we saw.
