Our 1 day in Colonia del Sacramento ended up being a nice stop for us on our trip, as we were able to relax in the small town where almost everything was within walking distance. During the first day when we arrived there were crowds of people everywhere, but on our second day in Colonia we were able to visit the historic part of town with almost no one else around.

It also helped that our hotel in Colonia was very close to all of the main sights, but was still off a small, quiet side street. Having spent the night in Colonia, unlike most tourists, we were able to get out in the morning and get all of the pictures we were not able to get the day before.
