We ended up spending a little longer in Cafayate then we have been in other cities, mainly because we decided it would be a good place to be for New Year’s Eve. When you’re going to be celebrating something or anything, wine country seems like a pretty good choice. We were excited to visit some of the local wineries, especially since they were so close to the town of Cafayate which made them easy to get to. We rented a bike one day to get to some of the wineries that were further away. That was quite an adventure.
It wasn’t until a few days before we got to Cafayate that we found out about the beautiful stretch of scenery as you drive into the area. Since we got to see some of it from the bus ride into the area, we decided it would be worth taking a tour of the area known as the Quebrada de las Conchas. We took a half day tour and were able to see the majority of sights throughout the area.
We spent a quiet New Year’s in Cafayate, where we were able to relax on the catwalk outside our room and drink some sparkling wine we had bought at a local winery. It turned out being one of our favorite towns in all of Argentina so far.
